I'm Leaving Japan

On his final full day, he planned to leave the hotel with his girlfriend for an airport hotel before departing Japan. He initially felt numb and questioned the relationship, but homesickness for England, cats, solitude, gaming, drawing, and his room dominated. After sushi and karaoke, airport hugs lasted ten minutes; home, he felt grief, unreality, fatigue, and uncertainty about seeing her or returning.

The trip reverses initial homesick relief into separation grief, leaving the relationship and future Japan plans unresolved.
