After a rough, sleepless flight, he returned to Japan after seven years, finalized the contract, and found the large guesthouse empty. He bought towels, food, beer, and toiletries; mosquito bites swelled and bled, while alcohol left him tipsy, exhausted, and headachy. Feeling lonely after years with his parents, he avoided conversation, yet planned to use communal spaces and livestreaming to connect.
